United States Industry Coalition. Enotes. Vol 12. Num 1. April 2011.

http://www.usic.net/wp-content/uploads/April_2011_e-notesFINAL1.pdf.

USIC member AquilaVision of Missoula, Montana, recently announced that, through its partnership with Missoula’s Alter Enterprises, it has produced a bear trap which not only contains the animal unhurt, but is fully automatic with cameras, a full communication system and a satellite uplink.

Why such a fancy device? The U.S. Fish and Wildlife biologists can tell you. Most bears are caught in the middle of the night. Previously, biologists would have to monitor a computer 24/7 to detect when a bear was caught. Then they would have to trudge out to check on the animal, see if they caught the right one and transport it to another location. If they did not catch the right one, they were dealing at close range with an angry animal as they released it from the trap or, if they snagged a cub, a very angry mother bear.

With the OTTER-equipped bear trap, biologists can go about their work or perhaps even sleep. When a bear is caught, the OTTER alarm system phones or sends an e-mail. Biologists then goes on the computer, check the bear with the system’s built-in camera, and decide on a course of action. Perhaps, it is a black bear and they are trying to capture a bothersome grizzly, or a cub and they’re looking for a grown bear. The biologists can instantly open the door and release the bear. Once they have snagged a targeted animal, they can head out to retrieve the trap and transport the animal to a remote location to release it unharmed.

According to AquilaVision’s CEO Chuck Eubank, “AquilaVision and Alter Enterprises are working with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Montana Fish and Game Commission to trap and move bears before they get into trouble with humans, therefore, saving lives and stress of both bears and humans.”

The “better bear trap” is one example of how AquilaVision’s OTTER event and communications technology can integrate with systems or sensors to monitor, detect and connect with any combination of telephones, IP based systems or even radios with text, email or voice announcements. It can be used by:
• Utility companies to monitor outages,
• Mining companies to alert about hazardous gas build-up,
• Law enforcement as an electronic monitoring device,
• Military and law enforcement as a panic alert, or even
• Municipalities and governments to alert any number of contacts in emergency or non-emergency situations.

AquilaVision is headquartered in Missoula, Montana. They joined USIC in 2008 as a General Member. You can learn more about OTTER technology at their website at www. aquilavision.com or contact CEO Chuck Eubank directly at chuck.eubank@aquilavision.com.

November 17, 2010, Missoula Montana

It was announced today that AquilaVision Corporation a communications software company based in Missoula, Montana www.aquilavision.com has been working with Blackfoot Telecommunications Group also of Missoula, Montana, www.blackfoot.com to provide a replacement solution for rural firebars to work with new IP networks.

This important communications system keeps emergency communications in place in rural communities as important technology advances come to communities. The upcoming updates to rural communication equipment are needed to keep pace with modern day growth to provide customers with the best service possible.

It is important to note that once the new equipment is in place and the implementation of an all IP based network takes place, current rural emergency firebar alerting system will become outdated.

The development of the new solution has been completed. It is robust, inexpensive, easy to use and ready to implement. It has been deployed and tested locally. Rural fire departments are coming into the 21st century with the new rural firebar customizable communications software solution.

AquilaVision Corporation Signs Agreements with IPVision Software to Provide a Low-Cost Solution for Event-Driven, Real Time Unified Video & Intelligent Event Management and Communications.

A new partnership was announced today between AquilaVision Corporation of Missoula, Montana www.aquilavision.com and IPVisionSoftware of Tampa Florida. www.ipvisionsoftware.com

The new alliance moves both companies aggressively into providing a scalable IP video surveillance solution integrated with an intelligent communications management solution in the United Stated and abroad.

Usability / User Interface
Unlike most video surveillance solutions, IPVision Software’s VVR™ was built as an event-driven and highly scalable software application that provides real-time role-based access to in-house users, security personnel or first responders on almost any web browser or mobile phone device. IPVision Software is the only video surveillance solution in the market that has integrated AquilaVision’s OTTER™ into its real-time event communications management. With its VVR WebPortal solution, live and recorded video is made available to authorized personnel or first responders using browser-based devices. At any time of day or night an authorized user can click to enable or disable the VVR from sending Visual Security Instant Messages to predetermined users whenever cameras sense motion, access control systems receive alarms from panels, or a SCADA device senses a problem. These Instant Messages also provide single-click responses to view live video, play back recorded video, open or relock doors, and even escalate an event (manually or automatically due to an operator failing to respond).

Scalability: Communication
OTTER by AquilaVision Corporation will allow total communication for events instantaneous to one or 1000’s depending on the business rules necessary for action to any communications device instantly with no human interaction. OTTER’s integration with IPVision Software creates an event and communications management package like no other. Together both IPVision Software and AquilaVision create the serious communications link to be used with virtually any existing video surveillance system or communications device. This offers new levels of scalability, flexibility and communications without the need to add video servers to accommodate additional video processing or add new communications devices.

About AquilaVision Corporation
Traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (CMP.F), AquilaVision is a leader in providing intelligent communication event management. Events occur every-day that require people or systems to be informed.

Physical Security and Network Innovators to Showcase Better End-to-End Security

Accessible, Affordable and Easy to Use – The Way IP Technology is Supposed to Be

Dallas, TX– October 12, 2010

Physical security innovators: AquilaVision, IPVision Software, ISONAS Security, and Jemez Technology are joining together to create and showcase a complete enterprise security environment during the ASIS conference occurring this week. This unique grouping of companies was shaped by a common vision to deliver dramatically more effective security systems at lower costs by applying proven IT / networking system architecture capabilities not available in legacy vendors’ products.

This architecture enables organizations to more readily deploy and use wired and wireless IP-based security solutions that are easier to configure, operate, and maintain through a combination of fewer servers and superior networking technology capabilities that continue to provide investment protection for many existing third party products. This includes video surveillance, access control, intelligent video image reconnaissance, and advanced event management and instantaneous notification. The result is a more responsive security umbrella that can be expanded to more places with greater flexibility and reliability, similar to the impact of countless IT-enabled business applications, including voice and video communications.

“In the transition to IP-based security technology, physical security integrators and end-users have had to use sub-optimal implementations of IP-based products that were often more expensive and complicated to use—and in some cases less secure—than older analog technologies,” observed security consultant Ray Bernard, co-developer of Best Practices for IP Security Systems). “The legacy technology interests and focuses of many manufacturers continued to forward much of the status quo, and perpetuated the use of outdated system architectures—even in IP-enabled products and systems. Now, several companies without legacy technology constraints have taken a clean sheet approach to security technology architecture that utilizes proven technology and architectural concepts to solve these problems and enable new capabilities in a future-proof approach. They want to gain customers by empowering integrators and end-users, rather than locking them in to proprietary closed solutions,” Bernard concluded.

Using distributed intelligence, ISONAS reduces deployment and operational costs associated with building access control systems. IPVision Software significantly reduces surveillance costs by virtualizing recording functions, thereby eliminating the need for traditional network / digital video recorders. Moreover, security responsiveness is increased by delivering bi-directional Visual Security Instant Messages to PCs and phones. As a cost-effective upgrade to all video surveillance systems, Jemez Technology’s state-of-the-art video image reconnaissance (VIR™) products provide dramatically enhanced perimeter and area security using existing IP or analog cameras. With highly accurate threat detection and tracking capabilities, it works in all lighting and weather conditions. Aquilavision’s real-time forensic security analysis and notification system uses multiple and simultaneous methods to communicate, including machine-to-machine, voice calls, SMS, or email. As hosted services, these companies provide a more flexible, effective, and responsive solution for video and other sensor-based systems. Various providers of cloud-based technologies and services can provide the real-time streaming of video and instant messaging to a massive number of different devices that are deployed almost anywhere to complete the architecture. In summary, these technologies and products help security operations to focus more on their core responsibilities, and less on configuring and managing complexities of the systems they use.

“Our customers are thrilled to have a complete, best-of-breed set of security solutions that are fully interoperable, and that maximize all the capabilities of their security investments, while also reducing cost and complexity,” concluded Mark Felberg, CEO of IPVision Software.

These four physical security innovators, along with an undisclosed large service provider and networking company are hosting a three day reception on October 12-14, 2010 at the Dallas Ritz-Carlton, conveniently located near the Dallas Convention Center where the 56th ASIS International Seminar and Exhibition will be held. To schedule an advance appointment, please send an email to ASISmeeting@IPVisionSoftware.com or contact a representative from any of the participating companies.

AQUILAVISION CORPORATION PARTNERS WITH troo CORPORATION FOR PERSONAL MONITORING APPLICATIONS

February 08, 2010, Missoula, Montana

A new partnership was announced today between AquilaVision Corporation of Missoula, MT and troo Corporation of Ottawa, ON.

The new alliance moves both companies aggressively into the personal monitoring arena with a GPS enabled wrist bracelet which allows flexible options for tracking, monitoring and status update or emergency voice notifications. AquilaVision has a proven record of notifying key law enforcement personnel when offenders, wearing tracking devices, violate predetermined rules by doing something they are not supposed to do or going someplace they are not supposed to be. Depending on the law enforcement requirements, AquilaVision’s software, OTTER, automatically and simultaneously calls parole officers, police officers, 911 dispatch centers, victims and others when a violation occurs. AquilaVision’s flexible notification ability will complement troo’s strength in device tracking, monitoring and event detection as they move into the personal monitoring environment.

The initial endeavor will focus on individuals who need extra monitoring, like those with Alzheimer’s, Autism or similar challenges. Monitoring can be from a one family perspective or from a group health care viewpoint. Chuck Eubank, CEO of AquilaVision, said “imagine that your Mother, with Alzheimer’s, walks away from her residence. Within minutes, troo has determined that a predefined geofence boundary has been violated and AquilaVision begins notifying family members instantly and automatically via text or phone call”. Joel Bisson, troo’s COO, added “troo can quickly provide exact location information so that the loved one can be located immediately”. In the group health care arena, there will be a great advantage if a facility assigns a group of residents a wrist bracelet to wear on trip outings. troo can determine if all the residents are accounted for and, if not, AquilaVision will notify the appropriate personnel. If one of the residents wanders off or is late returning, they can be quickly located”.
In addition to the active monitoring described above, the wrist bracelet provides for a panic button application. When pushed, the panic button will summon help as well as provide detailed GPS location and other information. This will be a fantastic application for executives who travel frequently or law enforcement personnel who find themselves in emergency situations.
