“In the beginning of 2008 The Millennium Group Int’l LLC (MGI) deployed the OTTER Emergency Response system in Afghanistan in support of the Host Nation Trucking Contract. This was the largest logistics contract inside Afghanistan that was responsible for delivering material goods to all US Military locations in Afghanistan.
MGI was the first contractor that provided DOD in Afghanistan with onsite ITV in the form of unlimited access tracking software, laptops, dedicated satellite terminals to FOB sites, map customization and user support as inherent to our ITV services. Integrating OTTER into this system became a critical piece to accomplishing this mission. Additionally, we have staff in multiple sites in Afghanistan interacting in the field with the transporters so we understand what actually goes into managing ITV on the ground. Having an alert mechanism like OTTER has been an indispensible asset to our operations team. OTTER has literally saved the lives of the people running this contract during this past year by giving real time phone alerts to panic situations.
In Afghanistan internet communications are not extremely reliable and being in front of a computer 24 hours a day is not always feasible. We track convoys traveling in the most dangerous locations in Afghanistan 24/7 and having a tool that takes an alert to an interactive communications tool takes the entire operation to a more robust level of performance. We have OTTER configured to alert us with email, phone and SMS messages to multiple companies when a team member pushes a panic button in distress. This allows several of our Staff members to carry cell phones just so they can be alerted no matter what location they are traveling to. This interactive alerting system has allowed us to deploy quick reaction forces to aid convoys under attack and allow for an complete historical review of the incident for the after action report. Most importantly these alerts transpire without human intervention or the need for a call center which reduces costs and increases situational response time.”
“As parents of a child with a disability that keeps him from understanding the consequences of running into the street or leaving the home and not returning we have found this GPS tracking unit and most specifically the ability to receive immediate phone calls in regard to his whereabouts to be a complete life saver.
